{"id":42842,"date":"2016-04-06T08:57:38","date_gmt":"2016-04-06T15:57:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=42842"},"modified":"2016-04-06T08:57:38","modified_gmt":"2016-04-06T15:57:38","slug":"shakespeare-alive-brings-bard-beauty-nau","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/shakespeare-alive-brings-bard-beauty-nau\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Shakespeare Alive!\u2019\u00a0brings bard beauty to NAU"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Shakespeare Alive!<\/em>\u2014an evening of theatre, music and poetry by Shakespeare and inspired by Shakespeare\u2014features the best of Northern Arizona University\u2019s musical and theatrical talent.<\/p>\n<p>The free performance, with no tickets required, takes place 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 8, at NAU&#8217;s Ardrey Memorial Auditorium.<\/p>\n<p>NAU students, faculty, alumni and academic leaders perform dramatic readings, songs and sonnets.\u00a0Theatrical numbers include Cole Porter\u2019s <em>Brush Up Your Shakespeare<\/em>, from <em>Kiss Me Kate<\/em>, a scene from NAU\u2019s fall production of <em>The Comedy of Errors<\/em>, and a dramatic performance of <em>Une Temp\u00eate<\/em>, a 1969 play by Aim\u00e9 C\u00e9saire adapted from Shakespeare&#8217;s <em>The Tempest<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Live musical selections include songs by Cole Porter, Igor Stravinsky, Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Strauss.
