To celebrate its 30-year anniversary, the Women’s and Gender Studies program at Northern Arizona University will host several lectures, discussions, celebrations and a performing arts variety show next week.\u00a0All events are free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

Gender and Difference on Stage!
\n<\/strong>7 p.m., Saturday, March 5, Firecreek Coffee Company
\n<\/em>A variety show will be held in downtown Flagstaff showcasing poets, musicians and performing artists exploring topics related to\u00a0social transformation and change.
\n<\/em><\/p>\n

Women\u2019s and Gender Studies on the Edge: A Panel Discussion<\/strong>
\n4 p.m., Monday, March 7, room 200, SBS West
\n<\/em>A panel of current and former faculty and students will convene to discuss three decades of change and the future of gender, identity, power and diversity. A reception will follow at 5:30 p.m. in room 100 of SBS West.
\n<\/em><\/p>\n

Susan Strycker presents Trans* Life Now
\n<\/strong>6 p.m.,\u00a0Tuesday, March 8,\u00a0Gardner Auditorium, W.A. Franke College of Business
\n<\/em>Susan Strycker, director of the Institute for LGBT Studies and associate professor at the University of Arizona, will discuss the recent upsurge in visibility to trans* issues in media and society. Strycker co-wrote, co-directed and co-produced the Emmy Award-winning documentary film Screaming Queens: The Riot of Compton’s Cafeteria<\/em>.
