The Lumberjack community will come together to honor the life and civil rights work of Martin Luther King Jr. during Northern Arizona University’s annual MLK celebration and day of service Monday, Jan. 18.<\/p>\n
A march will begin at 1 p.m. at the University Union and end at the du Bois Center Ballroom on south campus. The “Chasing a Mountaintop”\u00a0program will begin at 1:30 p.m. The public is invited to join students\u00a0and staff to celebrate the occasion.<\/p>\n
The Black Student Union, Office of the President, Student Life, Residence Life, Athletics, W.A. Franke College of Business and Inclusion and Multicultural Services are coming together to present this longstanding event.<\/p>\n
In the community, student-athletes will participate in various service projects, including prepping and serving\u00a0food and cleaning up the trails\u00a0throughout Flagstaff.\u00a0NAU\u2019s\u00a0Civic Service Institute<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0will partner\u00a0with United Blood Services to host a blood drive from 11 a.m.\u00a0to 3 p.m. at the Murdoch Community Center.<\/p>\n The university\u00a0will be closed Monday, Jan. 18, in observance of the\u00a0Martin Luther King Jr. holiday<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0NAU permits are not required for parking\u00a0on campus\u00a0that day. Parking restrictions for reserved stalls and meters remain in effect.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
