President Rita Cheng<\/strong> and representatives from Northern Arizona University met\u00a0with\u00a0partner institutions in China last week, building on more than two decades of\u00a0collaboration directly related to\u00a0NAU\u2019s global\u00a0education\u00a0goals.<\/p>\n The president was joined by\u00a0Paul Jagodzinksi<\/strong>, dean of the College of Engineering, Forestry and Natural Sciences, and staff from NAU’s\u00a0Center for International Education. Cheng and Jagodzinski\u00a0met with leaders at Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Guangdong University of Finance and Economics, and Beijing International Studies University.<\/p>\n \u201cOur partnerships with\u00a0universities in China add great\u00a0value to our domestic students’ experiences on the Flagstaff campus,\u201d Cheng said. “The richness of diverse experiences and viewpoints on our campus offers all our students a global perspective important for entering today’s workforce here and abroad.”<\/p>\n The president\u00a0met\u00a0students in the current cohort of programs including the CUPT 3+1 joint program<\/a>\u00a0in electrical engineering\u00a0and the GUFE experimental class for the dual degree in business management. Students in the electrical engineering program will\u00a0spend their senior year at NAU in Flagstaff. Students in the business management\u00a0program spend the first year at GUFE, the second and third year at NAU, and return to study at GUFE for the final year.<\/p>\n The trip included a visit with the China Center for International Educational Exchange and the International Office under China Education Association for International Exchange, sponsors of the Sino-American 1+2+1 Dual Degree Program<\/a>. The dual degree program, one of NAU\u2019s first in China, has produced more than 200 graduates in the last 10 years.<\/p>\n NAU officials also were welcomed to\u00a0the\u00a0BISU campus during their visit. NAU\u2019s multi-dimensional partnership with the Beijing university\u00a0started nearly\u00a025 years ago and now includes both faculty and student exchanges.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
