The university presidents joined leaders from both institutions to discuss the ongoing 3+1 <a href=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/nau-launches-dual-degree-program-university-china\/#.VmnHJITyC-I\">dual degree program<\/a> in electrical engineering. The group also addressed the 181 students currently enrolled in the program.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Edythe Weeks<\/strong>, adjunct professor for\u00a0Extended Campuses, completed her <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cies.org\/program\/fulbright-specialist-program\">Fulbright Specialist<\/a> appointment at Omsk F.M. Dostoevsky State University in Siberia. During her appointment, Weeks lectured and conducted workshops on topics that included race and ethnic relations, international relations and space law-outer space development. Weeks also participated in UNESCO panel discussions held as part of the Model United Nations conference at the university. Established in 2000, the Fulbright Specialist Program provides short-term academic opportunities to U.S. faculty and professionals to support curricular and faculty development and institutional planning at post secondary academic institutions around the world. Recipients are selected on the basis of academic or professional achievement.<\/li>\n<li>\n<figure id=\"attachment_40842\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-40842\" style=\"width: 344px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-40842\" src=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ModelUN-1024x512.jpg\" alt=\"Model UN Club\" width=\"344\" height=\"172\" srcset=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2015\/12\/ModelUN-1024x512.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2015\/12\/ModelUN-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2015\/12\/ModelUN-768x384.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 344px) 100vw, 344px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-40842\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Twelve students traveled to Seattle to participate in the Northwest Model United Nations conference.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Members of the\u00a0<strong>NAU Model United Nations Club<\/strong> picked up awards during the group\u2019s recent conference travel. In October, <strong>Austin Rock<\/strong> took home the award for Best Delegate at the Model United Nations conference held at the University of Southern California. In November, <strong>Will Wolf<\/strong> won the Distinguished Delegate award during\u00a0the Northwest Model United Nations conference.<\/li>\n<li>Junior <strong>Kory Joe<\/strong> has been selected as the Junior National Student Representative to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aises.org\/about\/board\">American Indian Science and Engineering Society<\/a>. Joe, a mechanical engineering major, is from Alaska and is a member of the Asa&#8217;carsarmiut tribe. As a student representative, Joe will serve as the voice of the student membership of AISES and communicate with the national office\u00a0and the national and regional student body.
