{"id":40152,"date":"2015-11-06T10:35:21","date_gmt":"2015-11-06T17:35:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=40152"},"modified":"2015-11-10T07:58:48","modified_gmt":"2015-11-10T14:58:48","slug":"nau-opera-presents-trouble-in-tahiti","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/nau-opera-presents-trouble-in-tahiti\/","title":{"rendered":"NAU Opera presents \u2018Trouble in Tahiti&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/cal\/music\/opera\/\">NAU Opera<\/a> will stage back-to-back performances of Leonard Bernstein\u2019s one-act play \u201cTrouble in Tahiti\u201d at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, at Prochnow Auditorium.<\/p>\n<p>The opera, considered a light-hearted satire of suburban and family life, provides a glimpse into a day in the life of Sam and Dinah, an unhappily married couple living and raising a child in \u201cAnywhere U.S.A.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Directed by <strong>Eric Gibson<\/strong>, associate professor of practice in the School of Music, two versions of the opera will be staged\u2014one in 1952, the year of the composer, and another in present day. The music, conducted by <strong>Sarah Harrell<\/strong>, a graduate teaching assistant, derives from American vernacular roots.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets cost\u00a0$10 for adults and $5 for seniors and NAU faculty and staff. Children and NAU students with an I.D. are free.
