In her address, Stoller spoke about action research that teachers could conduct in the context of their extensive reading classrooms. Together, the nursing faculty and students, pictured right, collected more than\u00a03,000 diapers to donate to the Tucson Diaper Bank.<\/li>\n<li>NAU faculty and staff from University College and the eLearning Center participated in the 2015 Teaching Professor Technology Conference in New Orleans. <strong>Allison Adams<\/strong>, <strong>Flower Darby<\/strong>, <strong>John Doherty,<\/strong> <strong>Kevin Ketchner<\/strong>, <strong>Yvonne Luna<\/strong>, <strong>Michelle Miller<\/strong> and <strong>Wally Nolan<\/strong> presented on several topics including blended class design, use of mobile devices and more effective use of technology based on cognitive science. The sessions can be seen on the Flagstaff campus at NAU&#8217;s upcoming <a href=\"http:\/\/nau.edu\/elearning\/Events\">Innovations in Teaching: Lessons Learned from the President\u2019s Technology Initiative conference<\/a> on Oct. 23.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/pd_lite_2_-_update_34.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-39432\" src=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/pd_lite_2_-_update_34.jpg\" alt=\"pd_lite_2_-_update_34\" width=\"130\" height=\"108\" srcset=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2015\/10\/pd_lite_2_-_update_34.jpg 946w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2015\/10\/pd_lite_2_-_update_34-300x250.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 130px) 100vw, 130px\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/knau.org\/#stream\/0\">KNAU<\/a><\/strong> made history in its first silent pledge drive, meeting its goal of $125,000 without interrupting radio programing. The station surpassed its target on Sunday, October 4, three days before the drive ended.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bruce M. Sullivan<\/strong>, professor of comparative study of religions and Asian studies, had a book titled <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomsbury.com\/us\/sacred-objects-in-secular-spaces-9781472590800\">Sacred Objects in Secular Spaces: Exhibiting Asian Religions in Museums<\/a><\/em> published by Bloomsbury Publishing.\u00a0The book explores how religious objects, originally housed in temples and shrines, are to be understood, exhibited and handled now that they are in museums and have different functions.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/nau.edu\/chhs\/occupational-therapy\/\">NAU\u00a0occupational therapy<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0students were trained as <a href=\"http:\/\/arizonacoalition.org\/events\/navigator-training\/\">Arizona\u2019s Military\/Veteran Resource Navigators<\/a> by the Arizona Coalition for Military Families.\u00a0The October 5 training taught students about military culture and how to connect active duty military, veterans and their families to Arizona resources for employment, social and financial support, housing\/homelessness, mental health\/substance abuse, physical health and spirituality.<\/li>\n<li>In honor of Disability Awareness Month, NAU&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Student Occupational Therapy Association<\/strong>\u00a0sponsored a Skype question and answer session with Teal Sherer for students and faculty at\u00a0the Phoenix Biomedical Campus.
