The fourteen students in the electrical engineering program spent over two weeks in Flagstaff observing classes.<\/li>\n<li>Northern Arizona University earned multiple <a href=\"http:\/\/rockymountainemmy.org\/\"><strong>Emmy nominations<\/strong><\/a> from the Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. <strong>Jerry Anderfuren<\/strong>, NAU-TV producer-videographer, received nine nominations for his work on promotional commercials for NAU. NAU School of Communication students received seven nominations in six categories on the student side. <strong>Emani Payne<\/strong>, <strong>Emily Rose Litvack<\/strong>, <strong>Tyler Miranda<\/strong>, <strong>Xavier Rangel<\/strong>, <strong>Holly Switay,<\/strong> <strong>David Pearson<\/strong>, <strong>Paula Jones<\/strong>, <strong>Ryan Massey<\/strong>, <strong>Chris Binning<\/strong>, <strong>Alex Carel<\/strong>, <strong>Harrison May<\/strong>, <strong>Lauren<\/strong> <strong>Jones<\/strong>, <strong>Taylor Gipe<\/strong>, <strong>Maeve Golden, Jonathan Becker, Trevor Anthony, Abraham Cuzner, Amber Fields<\/strong>\u00a0and <strong>Mari Cleven<\/strong>\u00a0were named in the nominations. The Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter is a member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, serving Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming and El Centro, Calif. NAU received the award for Energy and Technology Innovation and the Governor\u2019s Award for Arizona\u2019s Future in recognition of its <a href=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Solar-Thermal-Heating.png\">solar thermal hot air technology<\/a>.\u00a0In January, NAU became the first university to install a multi-panel solar thermal hot air system on campus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/in-the-spotlight-sept-18-2015\/\">Kudos to these faculty, staff and students Do you have a spotlight item to share with the NAU community?
