{"id":38880,"date":"2015-09-11T11:16:30","date_gmt":"2015-09-11T18:16:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=38880"},"modified":"2015-09-11T11:16:30","modified_gmt":"2015-09-11T18:16:30","slug":"gold-axe-applications-due-sept-25","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/gold-axe-applications-due-sept-25\/","title":{"rendered":"Gold Axe applications due Sept. 25"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Office of Student Life is asking faculty and staff mentors to encourage outstanding graduating seniors to apply for the <a href=\"https:\/\/nau.collegiatelink.net\/form\/start\/76229\">Gold Axe Award<\/a> by 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25.<\/p>\n<p>The Gold Axe Award is presented each semester to seniors who have made outstanding contributions to the university in academic performance, service and extracurricular activities.\u00a0Online applications are available <a href=\"https:\/\/nau.collegiatelink.net\/form\/start\/76229\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Students selected to receive the Gold Axe Award will be honored at a reception November 10, along with the NAU faculty or staff member they name as having the most significant impact on them during their undergraduate career.<\/p>\n<p>The tradition of the Gold Axe Award dates back to 1933, a year after the student body adopted an axe as the symbol for Lumberjack athletics.
