{"id":38788,"date":"2015-09-14T09:08:27","date_gmt":"2015-09-14T16:08:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=38788"},"modified":"2015-09-14T09:08:27","modified_gmt":"2015-09-14T16:08:27","slug":"nominations-sought-for-presidents-distinguished-teaching-fellows-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/nominations-sought-for-presidents-distinguished-teaching-fellows-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Nominations sought for President&#8217;s Distinguished Teaching Fellows Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President\u00a0<strong>Rita Cheng <\/strong>is seeking nominations\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">of faculty members from all NAU campuses and disciplines\u00a0<\/span>for the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/nau.edu\/Provost\/Faculty-Awards-Honors\/\"><strong>President\u2019s Distinguished Teaching Fellows<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The award identifies teaching scholars whose student-related activities represent the highest levels of excellence and who make a significant impact on learning through departmental and campus engagement.<\/p>\n<p>Appointed for three years, fellows receive both a $5,000 stipend and $5,000 in professional development funding for teaching-related endeavors each year of their term.<\/p>\n<p>Fellows serve as leadership board members of the NAU\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nau.edu\/faculty-development\/teaching-academy\/\"><strong>Teaching Academy<\/strong><\/a>, which was created to recognize, support and reward effective teaching. The Teaching Academy is comprised of faculty members designated as their college teacher of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Two optional nomination orientation sessions will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1 and Wednesday, Oct. 7, in the Faculty Professional Development Program Teaching Commons, Cline Library, room 169.
