President\u00a0<b>Rita Cheng<\/b>\u00a0announced\u00a0<b>Isa Rueda<\/b>\u00a0will fill the position after\u00a0<b>Dianna Grimaldi<\/b>\u2019s retirement in August.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The position includes working with senior management across campus, managing the president\u2019s calendar, planning and implementing meetings with government officials and overseeing multiple communications.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Rueda started at the university in 1985 and worked in the Office of the President for more than a decade with then President\u00a0<b>Eugene Hughes<\/b>. She has held numerous positions during her nearly 30 years on campus including executive assistant to the vice president for Legislative and Public Affairs and executive assistant in the Office of Public Affairs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Rueda, who is bilingual, has been honored with the Peer Recognition Award and the NAU President\u2019s Award.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI was impressed by the high-caliber of candidates who applied for this position,\u201d Cheng said. \u201cWe selected Isa because of her deep knowledge of the university, her organizational skills and her proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a demanding environment.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Cheng thanked Grimaldi for her 15\u00a0years of service at NAU, particularly with assisting with the transition to NAU in her first year. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/president-selects-longtime-employee-for-key-position\/\">A new assistant to the president has been selected.
