{"id":37526,"date":"2015-07-10T09:43:05","date_gmt":"2015-07-10T16:43:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=37526"},"modified":"2015-07-17T11:55:45","modified_gmt":"2015-07-17T18:55:45","slug":"naus-archery-club-hits-bulls-eyes-around-the-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/naus-archery-club-hits-bulls-eyes-around-the-world\/","title":{"rendered":"NAU\u2019s archery club hits bulls-eyes around the world"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For a club not well known on campus, Northern Arizona University&#8217;s\u00a0archery club is\u00a0making a name for itself.<\/p>\n<p>Over the Fourth\u00a0of July weekend, NAU sophomore\u00a0<strong>Paeton Keller<\/strong>\u00a0represented the United States\u00a0at the World University Games in Gwangju, South Korea.\u00a0A mechanical engineering student, Keller competed individually in the\u00a0compound archer division of the games, as well as with the U.S. compound team.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Keller&#8217;s success in South Korea, some 7,500 miles away,\u00a0NAU&#8217;s\u00a0archery club\u00a0recently captured the national title at the <a href=\"http:\/\/uscamail.com\">2015 United States Intercollegiate Archery Championships<\/a> held in Newberry, Fla.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: RIGHT; margin: 0 15px 5px 0;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/c4c8LWiKbWs?rel=0\" width=\"432\" height=\"271\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>The NAU archers won a total of seven medals at the intercollegiate championships, in both individual and team divisions. Some of the divisions in which NAU placed include recurve men\u2019s team, compound men\u2019s team, bow<br \/>\nhunter mixed team and women\u2019s bow hunter.<\/p>\n<p>Established in 2010, NAU\u2019s student-based archery club was created to develop beginner and elite archers in the sport of target archery, providing opportunities for students to compete in local, state and national collegiate archery tournaments.<\/p>\n<p>Originally made famous because of its importance in combat and hunting, the bow and arrow lost relevance with the widespread and efficient use of firearms.
