The workshop introduced social media and instructional technologies to novice users. A primary focus was on determining the teaching and learning purposes of tech tools prior to selection and implementation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>William Pederson<\/strong>, senior lecturer of social work at NAU-Yuma, was selected as the Undergraduate Faculty Representative for\u00a0the Council on Social Work Education\u2019s board of directors.\u00a0His three-year term will begin in July.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Frank Scott<\/strong>, director of the piano program in NAU&#8217;s School of Music, performed <em>Maurice Ravel&#8217;s Concerto for the Left Hand\u00a0<\/em>with the Harper Symphony Orchestra in April in Chicago.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Harvey Charles<\/strong>, vice provost, and <strong>Karen Plager<\/strong>, professor in\u00a0the School of Nursing, have co-written a chapter, \u201cInternationalising Nursing Education from the Ground Up: The Case of Northern Arizona University\u201d in the newly published book, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sensepublishers.com\/catalogs\/bookseries\/global-perspectives-on-higher-education\/critical-perspectives-on-internationalising-the-curriculum-in-disciplines\/\">Critical Perspectives on Internationalising the Curriculum in Disciplines Reflective Narrative Accounts from Business, Education and Health<\/a><\/em>. The chapter illustrates how NAU has integrated the Global Learning Initiative into its programs of study.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Neil Websdale<\/strong>, director of NAU\u2019s Family Violence Institute, has been appointed by Gov. Doug Ducey to serve on the <a href=\"http:\/\/gocyf.az.gov\/CommGroups\/GCPVAW.asp\">Commission to Prevent Violence Against Women<\/a>. The committee is tasked with developing legislative and policy recommendations with regard to preventing violence against women, as well as expanding on successful prevention initiatives and coordinating and expanding services for victims of domestic and sexual violence.<\/li>\n<li><b>Robert Schehr<\/b>, faculty member in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice and executive director of the Arizona Innocence Project, had an article\u00a0titled \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/EMPEROR\u00b9S1.pdf\">The Emperor\u2019s New Clothes: Intellectual Dishonesty and the Unconstitutionality of Plea Bargaining<\/a>&#8221; accepted for publication in the <em>Texas A&amp;M Law Review<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/in-the-spotlight-june-5-2015\/\">Kudos to these faculty, staff and students Do you have a spotlight item to share with the NAU community?
