He added that projected enrollment increases will not make up the difference, and NAU will be operating at $2,300 less per-student funding than in 2008.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Christy Farley<\/strong>, vice president for Government Affairs and Business Partnerships, said her department has begun meeting with legislators to discuss a potential state budget surplus. She also said that with election campaign season beginning, the campus is reminded to use only personal time and resources if advocating for a particular candidate.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www4.nau.edu\/pair\/CabinetReports\/Cabinetindex2015.htm\">President\u2019s Cabinet Report<\/a> shows enrollment increases across the board in Flagstaff and Extended Campuses, said <strong>Laura Jones<\/strong>, associate vice president for Planning and Institutional Research. Orientation numbers exceed last year\u2019s as well. <strong>Pauline Entin<\/strong>, vice provost for Academic Affairs, expressed concerns about course capacity with the incoming number of students.<\/p>\n<p><strong>John Morris<\/strong>, associate vice president for Facility Services, gave a brief update on summer construction projects. He pointed out that his department <a href=\"http:\/\/nau.edu\/uploadedFiles\/Administrative\/Finance_and_Administration\/Facility_Services\/Folder_Templates\/2015_PROJECT_UPDATE_MAY_05-20-2015.pdf\">has created a map<\/a> with details on the projects.<\/p>\n<p>Campus is encouraged to participate in the upcoming Independence Day Parade beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 4, in downtown Flagstaff. For information about participating, contact <a href=\"mailto:Alyssa.Deaver@nau.edu\">Alyssa.Deaver@nau.edu<\/a> or call (928) 523-6523 by 5 p.m. June 10.<\/p>\n<p>President <strong>Rita Cheng<\/strong> shared updates on several searches, interim appointments and retirements, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The search for a provost to replace <strong>Laura Huenneke<\/strong>, is continuing. The president hopes to make an announcement in the near future.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Betsey Mennell<\/strong> has been appointed interim vice president for Advancement, assuming the post filled by <strong>Mason Gerety<\/strong>, who will be <a href=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/vice-president-of-university-advancement-to-return-to-teaching\/#.VWzlj2C23Go\">moving to a faculty position in July<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fred Estrella<\/strong>, chief information technology officer, has <a href=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/fred-estrella-chief-information-technology-officer-announces-retirement\/#.VWzlqmC23Go\">announced his retirement<\/a>. A search for an interim replacement is underway.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sarah Bickel<\/strong>, chief of staff, will retire in August. <strong>Joanne Keene <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/new-chief-of-staff-to-start-may-1\/#.VWzlzWC23Go\">was named new chief of staff<\/a> effective May 1.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Debera Thomas<\/strong> has been <a href=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/interim-dean-named-for-the-college-of-health-and-human-services\/#.VWzl7mC23Go\">appointed dean of Health and Human Services<\/a>, including the School of Nursing, as executive dean <strong>Leslie Schulz<\/strong> returns to the faculty.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cindy Anderson<\/strong>, executive director of Residence Life, has accepted the Dean of Students position, replacing <strong>Rick Brandel<\/strong> who is moving to part-time faculty in the College of Education. He also will be working on several projects with Enrollment Management and Student Affairs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Harvey Charles<\/strong>, vice provost for International Education, has accepted a position at another university and will step down in late summer.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Astrid Klocke<\/strong> has accepted the role of associate vice president for Academic Affairs in NAU Extended Campuses.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bob Norton<\/strong>, associate vice president for Financial Services and comptroller, is retiring. <strong>Wendy Swartz<\/strong> will serve in the interim position as a nationwide search is conducted.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tom Bauer<\/strong>, director of Public Affairs, is retiring at the end of July. Public Affairs and University Marketing currently are part of a university wide communication reorganization effort.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dianna Grimaldi<\/strong>, assistant to the president, is retiring.
