{"id":36678,"date":"2015-05-11T09:10:31","date_gmt":"2015-05-11T16:10:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=36678"},"modified":"2015-05-11T09:10:31","modified_gmt":"2015-05-11T16:10:31","slug":"fred-estrella-chief-information-technology-officer-announces-retirement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/fred-estrella-chief-information-technology-officer-announces-retirement\/","title":{"rendered":"Fred Estrella, chief information technology officer, announces retirement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Fred Estrella<\/strong>, chief information technology officer,\u00a0will retire from Northern Arizona University\u00a0at the end of June after more than 16\u00a0years of service to the university.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince my arrival in June 1999, technology has advanced at a very high rate, and I believe we\u2019ve been able to keep up with this fast pace through the hard work and dedication of the men and women who work in Information Technology Services,\u201d said Estrella, a retired U.S. Army colonel and West Point graduate. \u201cI am proud to leave NAU with state-of-the-art systems and a highly skilled staff who work tirelessly with others on campus to advance student success and to keep NAU on a continued path to exceed its future goals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Estrella was the first chief information officer at NAU. During his time at the university, he oversaw a number of major information technology installations and upgrades, including the HR PeopleSoft system, PeopleSoft Student Administration system, Blackboard learning management system and installed the first campus-wide wireless system.
