Torn<\/strong>, associate professor of creative media and film, presented, &#8220;If You Build It, Will They Come? Wandering Through Academic Ghost Towns on Second Life\u201d and moderated the panel &#8220;Teaching the Communication Classroom.&#8221; <strong>Martin D. Sommerness<\/strong>, professor of journalism, presented,&#8221;Where Deans Fear to Tread: Lessons Learned from Deploying Adaptive Learning Technologies in the Basic Grammar, Introductory Survey and Senior Law Courses\u201d and moderated &#8220;Advancement of Communication Technology: Challenges or Opportunities.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tobias Kreidl<\/strong>, academic computing team lead in Information Technology Services, will participate in a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.citrix.com\/customers\/northern-arizona-university-en.html\">case study<\/a> by Citrix, Inc., regarding the virtualization of servers and clients within various areas of NAU&#8217;s ITS department. The push towards both server and client virtualization embraces NAU&#8217;s energy philosophy while providing more efficient management, flexibility and high-availability.<\/li>\n<li>Northern Arizona University&#8217;s <strong>Center for Science Teaching and Learning<\/strong>\u00a0and <strong>Geospatial Research and Information Laboratory\u00a0<\/strong>have been selected to receive a Special Achievement in GIS award at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.esri.com\/events\/user-conference\">2015 Esri User Conference<\/a>. The award is given to user sites around the world to recognize outstanding work with GIS technology.<\/li>\n<li><strong> Mark Montoya,\u00a0<\/strong>ethnic studies lecturer, presented, \u201cIllegal- and Other- Americans: Negotiating the Hyphen in Arizona,&#8221; at the\u00a0annual meeting of the Association for Borderlands Studies in\u00a0Portland.<\/li>\n<li>Two School of Forestry faculty members were recently featured in <em>Forestry Source<\/em>, the monthly news magazine published by the Society of American Foresters. In <a href=\"%20http:\/\/www.nxtbook.com\/nxtbooks\/saf\/forestrysource_201503\/#\/0\">March<\/a>,\u00a0assistant professor <strong>Andrew S\u00e1nchez Meador<\/strong>\u00a0discussed\u00a0the impacts of diameter caps on forest health and wildfire risk reduction.
