Ardrey Auditorium is scheduled to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?fbid=208632829194352&amp;set=a.208632789194356.50628.191737390883896&amp;type=1&amp;theater\">undergo a facelift<\/a>\u00a0beginning in late October. The renovation will improve seating, address fire and life\/safety issues and improve acoustics. New fixtures could save NAU up to 70 percent on energy.\u00a0<strong>Jennus Burton<\/strong>, vice president for Finance and Administration, showed tentative plans for a new 30,000- to 45,000-square-foot building funded by the NAU Foundation. The building, if approved by ABOR and the Legislature, would be located near ITS.<\/p>\n<p>President\u00a0<strong>John Haeger<\/strong>\u00a0invited campus to urge qualified students to apply for\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/students-stand-out-by-taking-part-in-regents-legislature\/\">NAU\u2019s student regent<\/a>. The successful candidate would serve on the board for two years.<\/p>\n<p>NAU will present its proposed FY2013 budget to the regents during Thursday\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/regents-to-meet-this-week-in-flagstaff\/\">ABOR meeting at NAU<\/a>.\u00a0<strong>Pat Haeuser<\/strong>, vice president for Planning, Budget and Institutional Effectiveness, said NAU\u2019s request of $116.7 million includes $3 million in \u201cdisparity funding.\u201d If approved, disparity funding will add about $15 million to NAU\u2019s base over five years.<\/p>\n<p>As part of his\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/first-year-learning-initiative-puts-effort-into-student-success\/\">Student Success Initiative<\/a>, President Haeger encouraged faculty and staff to attend presentations by Robert Zemsky, of the Learning Alliance, on Sept. 27 and representatives from NBC Learn on Sept. 29.
