She was 20.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Ms. Spencer graduated from Chaparral High School in 2012 in Scottsdale, Ariz. Ms. Spencer was a junior pursuing a degree in microbiology with a minor in chemistry at Northern Arizona University. She\u00a0was employed at Pollack Tempe Cinemas during summer and breaks and was a lab assistant at NAU.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Ms. Spencer\u00a0loved the arts, and drawing and painting were her passions. She also was a published poet and\u00a0regularly presented at Poetry Slam. From a young age, she\u00a0was an avid reader, enjoyed musical theater and cherished travel. She\u00a0was a member of the NAU Hand Bell Choir and Chaparral Women&#8217;s Chorale.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Ms. Spencer is survived by her mother, Diane M. Spencer and brother, Zachary Thayer Spencer of Tempe and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death\u00a0by her father, Lawrence William Spencer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Funeral services will be held at Scottsdale Presbyterian Church, 3421 N Hayden Rd., at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 4.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/obituary-lauren-delores-spencer-microbiology-student\/\">Lauren Delores Spencer, a microbiology major, died on March 29, 2015.
