Photo by Thomas Paradis.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Thomas Paradis<\/strong>, professor of geography, planning and recreation, recently published <em>Living the Palio: A Story of Community and Public Life in Siena, Italy<\/em>, based on research he performed during a study abroad trip with students and faculty. In the book, Paradis highlights the Palio horse race that has taken place twice each year since 1644 in Siena\u2019s historic Piazza del Campo. The book discusses the design of effective public spaces that promote active engaged communities. Read an excerpt from the book and view Paradis\u2019 photos and video <a href=\"http:\/\/livingthepalio.com\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>NAU\u2019s <strong>Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals<\/strong> released a video highlighting its Climate Change Adaptation Workshop held in Portland, Ore., in September. The <a href=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\/118150835\">video<\/a> explores the effects of pollution and glacial melt on indigenous peoples.<\/li>\n<li>History professor <strong>Michael Amundson <\/strong>published Wyoming Revisited: <em>Rephotographing the Scenes of Joseph E. Stimson<\/em>, which recently was the subject of a news story on <em>KWMP<\/em>, Wyoming Public Media\u2019s NPR station. Listen to the interview and view photographs <a href=\"http:\/\/wyomingpublicmedia.org\/post\/rephotography-book-shows-whats-changed-whats-stayed-same-wyoming\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Vice Provost\u00a0<strong>Harvey Charles<\/strong> has been selected by the Commission for Global Dimensions of Student Development to receive its\u00a0Service to the International Community award. Charles will be recognized during the ACPA\u2014College Student Educators International annual convention in March.<\/li>\n<li><strong>David Camacho<\/strong>, associate vice president for diversity, recently was elected to serve a three-year term to the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education Board of Directors. The association utilizes research to inform on diversity initiatives and local and national policy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Christopher Rhode<\/strong>, a philosophy, politics and law major and a\u00a0Campus Recreation employee, was selected to receive the 2015 William N. Wasson Student Leadership and Academic Award from the\u00a0National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association. He will receive the award during the association&#8217;s annual conference in Grapevine, Texas in March.<\/li>\n<li><b>Carolina Mora<\/b>, biology and psychology double major, recently was named a &#8220;Big of the Year by\u00a0Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flagstaff.
