A column by President\u00a0<strong>John Haeger\u00a0<\/strong>opposing guns on campus appeared in the<em>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/azdailysun.com\/news\/opinion\/columnists\/coconino-voices-guns-not-welcome-at-nau\/article_80847842-3659-54de-b2a1-f36a8b37ee29.html\">Arizona Daily Sun<\/a><\/em>. The universities\u2019 three police chiefs opposed the bill in a column in the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.azcentral.com\/arizonarepublic\/opinions\/articles\/2012\/02\/07\/20120207pickens-daykin-fowler-guns-campus-will-lead-more-danger-0211.html\"><em>Arizona Republic<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Sophomores hold high opinions of their overall experience at NAU with 96 percent rating it \u201cgood\u201d or \u201cexcellent.\u201d\u00a0<strong>Pat Haeuser<\/strong>, vice president for Planning, Budget and Institutional Effectiveness, presented the highlights. The results have been steady from year to year, Haeuser said, with \u201ccampus safety\u201d rating highest and \u201csmooth transition from Gateway to the college\u201d ranking second. Evaluation forms and priorities can be found\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www4.nau.edu\/pair\/UniversityPlanning\/FiscalYear2012PlanningCycle.asp\">online<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>President Haeger told cabinet that athletics director\u00a0<strong>Jim Fallis<\/strong>\u00a0has announced that\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/nau-athletic-director-will-not-seek-new-contract\">he will not seek another contract<\/a>\u00a0when his expires in July. Fallis has informed the Lumberjack Athletic Association as well as other Lumberjack constituents.<\/p>\n<p>Pat Haeuser announced that NAU will continue\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/cost-cutting-measures-will-result-in-some-nau-layoffs\/\">6-plus-6 contracts<\/a>\u00a0for service professionals.<\/p>\n<p>President Haeger announced the development of a Technology Innovation Fund.
