{"id":34341,"date":"2015-01-15T12:54:59","date_gmt":"2015-01-15T19:54:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=34341"},"modified":"2015-01-15T13:05:02","modified_gmt":"2015-01-15T20:05:02","slug":"flagstaff-symphony-debut-nau-professors-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/flagstaff-symphony-debut-nau-professors-work\/","title":{"rendered":"Flagstaff Symphony to debut NAU professor\u2019s work"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra will present its fourth concert of the 2014-2015 season with a program featuring the world premiere of NAU professor <strong>Bruce Reiprich<\/strong>\u2019s <em>Flowing Waters Caress Fallen Petal<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Reiprich, who teaches music theory and composition, says his composition is written \u201cwith a 21st century language that is tonal and sometimes atonal with lots of color, texture, and experimental sounds.\u201d The piece is based on a piano solo of the same name composed for pianist Vicki Ray in 2010. Ray also will be the featured soloist with the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra.<\/p>\n<p>The opening piece in the\u00a0program is William Grant Still\u2019s <em>Festive Overture<\/em>. Still is considered \u201cThe Dean\u201d of African-American composers and his library and archives are housed in Flagstaff. Completing the program will be Beethoven\u2019s <em>Symphony No. 6,<\/em> the <em>Pastorale<\/em> <em>Symphony<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, in Ardrey Auditorium.
