{"id":33561,"date":"2014-11-10T14:28:11","date_gmt":"2014-11-10T21:28:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=33561"},"modified":"2014-11-10T14:28:11","modified_gmt":"2014-11-10T21:28:11","slug":"northern-arizona-university-named-best-college-military-vets-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/northern-arizona-university-named-best-college-military-vets-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Northern Arizona University named a \u2018Best College\u2019 for military vets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Northern Arizona University once again ranks as the top school for military veterans in Arizona and among the top third of colleges and universities nationally, according to the <em>Military Times<\/em> \u201cBest for Vets: College 2015\u201d rankings.<\/p>\n<p>NAU ranked 27th in the nation, up nine spots from last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is considered a coveted list that our service members will trust and refer to when considering a school of higher learning,\u201d said <strong>Andrew Griffin<\/strong>, director for NAU\u2019s Office of Military and Veterans Affairs. \u201cNAU is a major contributor to Arizona\u2019s veteran success, and I sincerely thank the university for its superb support to our veterans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is the third \u201cBest for Vets\u201d recognition NAU has received from Military Times. In <a href=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/northern-arizona-universitys-college-business-named-best-vets\/#.VGEBzksk_fN\">March<\/a>, NAU\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/franke.nau.edu\/\"><strong>W.A. Franke College of Business<\/strong><\/a> was named one of the nation\u2019s top business schools for veterans. Last <a href=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/northern-arizona-university-named-best-college-military-vets\/#.VGEBwEsk_fM\">November<\/a>, NAU ranked 36th<sup>\u00a0<\/sup>in the 2014\u00a0\u201cBest for Vets\u201d list.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Times\u2019<\/em> editorially independent news project evaluated <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/story\/veterans\/2014\/11\/10\/methodology\/18798439\/\">many factors<\/a><\/strong> that make an institution a good fit for military veterans, including a first-time focus on\u00a0Education Department statistics commonly used to track student success and academic quality.\u00a0Broadly speaking, schools were evaluated in five categories: university culture, student support, academic quality, academic policies and financial aid.<\/p>\n<p>The complete Best for Vets rankings are <a href=\"http:\/\/projects.militarytimes.com\/jobs\/best-for-vets\/2015\/colleges\/4-year\/\"><strong>online<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/northern-arizona-university-named-best-college-military-vets-2\/\">Northern Arizona University once again ranks as the top school for military veterans in Arizona and among the top third of colleges and universities nationally, according to the Military Times \u201cBest for Vets: College 2015\u201d rankings.
