{"id":33539,"date":"2014-11-12T13:52:01","date_gmt":"2014-11-12T20:52:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=33539"},"modified":"2014-11-12T13:52:01","modified_gmt":"2014-11-12T20:52:01","slug":"south-sydney-rabbitohs-hold-pre-season-camp-nau","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/south-sydney-rabbitohs-hold-pre-season-camp-nau\/","title":{"rendered":"Rugby champs invite public to preseason camp at NAU"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Rugby League champions are making their way to Northern Arizona University for two weeks of high altitude training and inviting the public to watch their first camp in Flagstaff.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rabbitohs.com.au\/\">South Sydney Rabbitohs<\/a>, a pro rugby team from Australia, will visit NAU\u00a0Nov. 17 \u2013 Dec. 1 to train for the upcoming season.<\/p>\n<p>The Rabbitohs recently won the NRL\u00a0Premiership in Sydney at the largest gathering in the ANZ Stadium since the 2000 Sydney Olympics.<\/p>\n<p>They are the first National Rugby League club to hold a preseason high altitude camp.\u00a0NAU also has hosted <a title=\"Catch Aussie footy fever on campus\" href=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/catch-aussie-footy-fever-on-campus\/\">Australian Rules Football<\/a> for training sessions in the past.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The South Sydney Rabbitohs are always looking for new and innovative ways to physically and mentally train players each year,&#8221; said Troy Thomson, the team&#8217;s high performance manager. &#8220;High altitude training camps provide an excellent means by which to accelerate the processes involved in preparing an elite team of athletes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The training sessions listed below are open to the public.
