{"id":3330,"date":"2012-11-01T08:18:49","date_gmt":"2012-11-01T15:18:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www2.nau.edu\/news-p\/wordpress\/?p=3330"},"modified":"2014-03-24T15:34:36","modified_gmt":"2014-03-24T22:34:36","slug":"new-design-new-name-for-inside-nau-welcome-nau-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/new-design-new-name-for-inside-nau-welcome-nau-news\/","title":{"rendered":"New design, new name for \u2018Inside NAU\u2019: Welcome \u2018NAU News\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-3364\" alt=\"New site\" src=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/site.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"278\" srcset=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2012\/10\/site.jpg 664w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2012\/10\/site-300x185.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/>As part of the effort to further enhance the university\u2019s web presence, <em>Inside NAU<\/em> this week simultaneously rolled out its revamped website and announced its new name\u2014<em>NAU News<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The new name better reflects the authenticity of the site\u2019s content, said <strong>Tom Bauer<\/strong>, director of Public Affairs, the department that manages the site.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wanted to give readers more of a \u2018newsroom\u2019 experience, which comes with the assurance that this is where to go for timely, accurate and official university news and information,\u201d Bauer said.<\/p>\n<p>The fresh design features a more consistent user experience with a look that mirrors the university\u2019s home page web brand, which recently was named among the <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.thebrickfactory.com\/2012\/06\/top-10-best-designed-college-websites-the-sequel\/\">top 10 best designed college websites<\/a> for its \u201cunique\u201d and \u201crefreshing\u201d layout.<\/p>\n<p>The changes go beyond the aesthetics. Readers will find a more engaging experience, including the ability to post feedback and comments. Content also is segmented into various categories, making it easier to find. And there is now space devoted to <a href=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/category\/blogs\/\">blogs<\/a> for NAU President <strong>John Haeger<\/strong>, Provost <strong>Laura Huenneke<\/strong> and other thought leaders and guest bloggers on campus.<\/p>\n<p>Still, many of the popular aspects of the old <em>Inside NAU<\/em> have been maintained, such as the weekly \u201cSpotlights\u201d that feature the accomplishments of faculty, staff and students, and a searchable archive that puts information right at your fingertips.<\/p>\n<p>The new site launched with about eight months worth of content in the archives, but that will grow as the department continues to backload articles over the next several weeks so that eventually about three years of content is available.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMore than ever NAU is a news engine for the community and the entire region,\u201d Bauer said. \u201cOur new design and functionality will help elevate the NAU brand and engage more readers, ultimately raising the awareness of the university\u2019s mission and our collective successes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We hope you\u2019ll take a look around and let us know what you think.
