Her book is the first book-length treatment of children’s verse in the Romantic era (1780-1835). Challenging common assumptions that early children’s verse is mostly didactic and religious in nature, Ruwe identifies secular children’s poetry collections and tracks the rise of sentimental, fantasy, nature and utilitarian verse for nature.

Bill Carter, an assistant professor of practice in the School of Communication, received the silver medal from the Living Now Book Awards for his book Boom, Bust, Boom: A Story of Copper, The Metal that Runs the World.
