{"id":32184,"date":"2014-09-11T15:25:26","date_gmt":"2014-09-11T22:25:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=32184"},"modified":"2014-09-11T16:23:03","modified_gmt":"2014-09-11T23:23:03","slug":"festival-science-celebrates-25-years-flagstaff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/festival-science-celebrates-25-years-flagstaff\/","title":{"rendered":"Festival of Science celebrates 25 years in Flagstaff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; color: black;\">The <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scifest.org\/index.htm\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Flagstaff Festival of Science<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Arial; color: black;\"> is celebrating 25 years of discovery with \u201cA Grand Adventure\u201d for science lovers throughout the community.<\/span><span style=\"color: black; font-family: Arial;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black; font-family: Arial;\">Adventurers of all ages are invited to the 10-day festival from Sept. 19 \u2013 28 to explore more than 80 free events around the city that delve into mysteries of life on Earth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; color: black;\">It all kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, at NAU\u2019s Ardrey Auditorium, with a keynote presentation by <b>Paul Keim<\/b>, Regents\u2019 professor of biology at NAU. Keim will discuss his genetics research and how the ability to break down DNA is rapidly changing human health.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; color: black;\">The annual NAU Science and Engineering Day will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at the High Country Conference Center and Wettaw Biology\/Biochemistry buildings. Led by NAU faculty and students, the event will feature a series of hands-on experiences including an earthquake simulation, examinations of creepy crawlers, physics and chemistry magic shows and more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; color: black;\">All events are free and open to the public.
