The focus of her visit was on reading skills development and English as foreign language methods for teaching reading. She worked with English department faculty and students at her host institution, the National University of East Timor, in Dili.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Four faculty members from NAU\u2019s Ethnic Studies Program hosted a roundtable workshop last month at the 42<span style=\"font-size: 11px;\">nd a<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">nnual conference of the National Association for Ethnic Studies in Oakland, Calif. The faculty presented a discussion, \u201cThe Battle to Decolonize Knowledge: Experiences and Perspectives Teaching Ethnic Studies in Arizona,\u201d and shared teaching and research strategies with ethnic studies practitioners. The panel, which included\u00a0<\/span><b style=\"color: #000000;\">Ricardo Guthrie<\/b>,\u00a0director and assistant professor,<b style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0 <\/b>and lecturers<b style=\"color: #000000;\"> Samuel<\/b> <strong>Banales<\/strong>,\u00a0<b style=\"color: #000000;\">J. Daisy Purdy\u00a0<\/b>and<span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><b style=\"color: #000000;\">Mary Roaf<\/b><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0are preparing a journal article based on the workshop presentation.
