The student service organization raised $8,700 toward the $96,000 total.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The funds are used to provide education programs, advocate for cancer research, provide services to cancer patients currently battling this disease and allow researchers to progress toward the end of cancer as we know it.<\/p>\n<p>This year, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.NAURelay.com\">NAU Relay For Life<\/a> rose to new heights and achieved goals that were not thought possible. More than 1,500 students, faculty and community members participated in the fight against cancer and raised a groundbreaking $95,756, which is $13,000 more than the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>While all other Relays across the world were coming up short, the NAU community fought back and amazed everyone. NAU is now nationally recognized by\u00a0the American Cancer Society. Not only did we blow our fundraising goal out of the water, but we also beat the University of Arizona and Arizona State University, which are double our size.<\/p>\n<p>The incredible support we have received from all Lumberjacks proves that the Northern Arizona University community is dedicated to the fight against cancer.
