Northern Arizona University Athletics will publicly unveil its new look<\/a> during its spring football game at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at Lumberjack Stadium.<\/p>\n

Fan gear featuring the new logo and Lumberjack mascot will be available at the pre-game celebration at noon and during the Blue-Gold Spring Game<\/a>. Full rollout is set for all 15 intercollegiate team uniforms in the fall.<\/p>\n

The new logo and mascot succeed a decade-old design and reflect strength, pride, heroism, determination and hard work\u2014insights student-athletes, alumni and the university community shared with the design team. The logo retains the symbolic axe that connects a century of students to their NAU experience.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are proud to unveil the complete new identity of NAU Athletics as it is part of the transformation taking place on campus and in the community,\u201d said Lisa Campos<\/strong>, vice president for Intercollegiate Athletics. \u201cOur goal was to unite all stakeholders behind a single vision for the NAU Lumberjacks that elevates the athletics program, embodies the spirit of the region, and inspires northern Arizona, and I believe that we accomplished the goal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Samples of the new team uniforms will be on display. NAU Football will wear its new uniforms during the first game of the 2014-15 season, a debut that head coach Jerome Souers<\/strong> anxiously awaits.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a whole new vision up here now that started with President John Haeger<\/strong> and Dr. Campos that trickled down to all of us coaches, our players and our fans,\u201d Souers said. \u201cIt\u2019s an exciting time to be a Lumberjack. The new logo is big and bold, and it\u2019s something we are proud of.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans can pick up new athletics gear in Flagstaff at the NAU Bookstore<\/a>, Everywear U<\/a> and University Text and Tools<\/a>, and at Just Sports<\/a> locations in Chandler Fashion Square, Scottsdale Fashion Square, Tempe Marketplace and Arizona Mills.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t wait for our team to show off the new uniforms when we hit the court this fall,\u201d said Jack Murphy<\/strong>, men\u2019s basketball head coach. \u201cThe mountain within the logo signifies strength, and that\u2019s what we see in our student-athletes, whether it is in the classroom or in sports. They are dedicated and committed.\u201d<\/p>\n

NAU Athletics worked with SME, Inc. over the last year to develop the strategic brand and identity, engaging students, athletes, coaches, fans and alumni throughout the state.<\/p>\n

Athletics also launched a revamped website<\/a>, designed to showcase athletics news, optimize use of multimedia and integrate social media.<\/p>\n
