Northern Arizona University announced today that the search for a dean for the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences has been canceled.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe decision is in the best interests of the students, the college and the institution,\u201d said NAU President John Haeger<\/strong>. \u201cWhat was already a prolonged search recently has become a disruption. We must continue to focus on educating our students.\u201d<\/p>\n Haeger said the search has produced excellent candidates, but the current climate on campus presents too many obstacles to continue the process, a conclusion he reached in consultation with Provost Laura Huenneke<\/strong> and other senior academic leaders. Haeger said he and Huenneke will appoint a dean in the near future to lead the college following the conclusion of the current dean\u2019s appointment.<\/p>\n \u201cNAU seeks a leader to guide this important college,\u201d Haeger said. \u201cThe faculty and students deserve nothing less than the best as they navigate higher education\u2019s challenges and build toward future accomplishments.
