Leroux St., in downtown Flagstaff.<br \/>\n<P>The show, titled \u201cMegalith,\u201d contains a series of images taken over the course of three trips to Britain and Ireland. An artist&#8217;s reception will be held at the studio from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, as part of the First Friday Art Walk.<\/li>\n<li><b>Bruce Hungate<\/b>, director of the Center for Ecosystem Science and Society, is a coauthor of \u201cLinking Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services: Current Uncertainties and the Necessary Next Steps,\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/bioscience.oxfordjournals.org\/content\/early\/2013\/12\/05\/biosci.bit003.full.pdf+html\">published this week<\/a> in <i>BioScience<\/i>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Collin Haffey<\/strong>, an environmental science and policy graduate student, is teaming up with local artist Kate Aitchison to curate an exhibit titled \u201cThe Burnished Landscape: Blending Art and Science.\u201d\u00a0Haffey and Aitchison translate into art the predicted impacts of climate change on Southwestern forest fire regimes, conveying a sense of what the region may look like in the future.\u00a0The exhibit opens at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at Firecreek Coffee Company, 22 E. Rte. 66 in Flagstaff. The art will be on display through December.<\/li>\n<li>\n<div><strong>Kasey Ragan<\/strong>, a graduate student in criminology and criminal justice,\u00a0won the 2013 Outstanding Master&#8217;s Student Paper Award from the Division of\u00a0International Criminology of the American Society of Criminology for her paper, &#8220;Women Migrants: A Transnational Feminist Justice Issue.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Six students have been named Noyce Fellows for\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/nau.edu\/CEFNS\/CSTL\/Degrees-Programs\/The-Robert-Noyce-Teacher-Scholarship-Program\/\">the Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship<\/a>\u00a0program, which awards $15,000 to encourage talented undergraduate science, technology, engineering and math majors and post-baccalaureate students holding STEM degrees to earn a teaching credential and commit to teach in high-need school districts. After graduation, the fellows will participate in an induction program for support during their first years of teaching to promote retention. The undergraduate fellows are\u00a0<strong>Rebecca Holub<\/strong>, <b>Vann Johnson<\/b>,\u00a0and <strong>Cindy Koehler<\/strong>. The post-baccalaureate fellows are\u00a0<strong>Jonathan Griffith<\/strong>, <strong>Ryan Monahan<\/strong>\u00a0and <strong>David Tollefsen<\/strong>.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>NAU picked up two honors in the annual Best of Flagstaff awards.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/1899barandgrill.com\/index.html\">1899 Bar &amp; Grill<\/a> received \u201cBest Overall Restaurant\u201d honors and <a href=\"http:\/\/knau.org\">KNAU<\/a>\u00a0was named \u201cFavorite Radio Show.&#8221; Best of Flagstaff winners are selected each year by readers of the <i>Arizona Daily Sun<\/i>.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/spotlight-dec-6-2013\/\">Kudos to these faculty, staff and students Do you have a spotlight item to share with the NAU community?
