Nationally recognized scientist and author David S. Wilcove will speak on Monday, Sept. 16, as part of the 12th\u00a0biennial Conference of Science and Management on the Colorado Plateau. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Prochnow Auditorium on the campus of Northern Arizona University.<\/p>\n
Wilcove is the author of No Way Home: The Decline of the World\u2019s Great Animal Migrations<\/i> (2008), The Condor\u2019s Shadow: The Loss and Recovery of Wildlife in America<\/i> (1999), and numerous technical and popular articles in the fields of conservation biology, ornithology and endangered species protection. In 2001, he received the Distinguished Service Award of the Society for Conservation Biology in recognition of his work on behalf of endangered species.<\/p>\n
\u201cDavid Wilcove is a leader in the field of conservation biology, pioneering the use of science-based strategies to protect endangered species,\u201d said Ronald Hiebert<\/strong>, director of Colorado Plateau Ecosystem Studies Unit and the chairman of the conference. \u201cHis work highlights how science can be used to address complex management challenges, which what the biennial conference is all about.\u201d<\/p>\n A book signing will follow the presentation.<\/p>\n
