A new state law requiring every Arizona public classroom to display a U.S. flag and copies of the Constitution and Bill of Rights goes into effect July 4 of this year, and NAU has introduced a way to help ease the financial burden of outfitting more than 300 of its classrooms with the required materials.<\/p>\n
With an approximate cost of $100 per flag, including labor and mounting materials, the Flags for the Classroom program is seeking donors for flags and display materials to the university in return for a permanent plaque or sign by each flag crediting the donor.<\/p>\n
Participants can send U.S. flags and mounting materials to the NAU Foundation, Northern Arizona University, Old Main, Building 10, McMullen Circle, Flagstaff AZ 86011.<\/p>\n
Flags must be made in the United States, at least 2-feet x 3-feet in size and constructed and displayed in accordance with the United States code, title 4.<\/p>\n
Or donors may contribute funding for the project in lieu of actual flags by giving to the “Flags for the Classroom” fund via NAU’s secure\u00a0online website<\/a>.<\/p>\n
