{"id":24570,"date":"2013-07-26T08:24:15","date_gmt":"2013-07-26T15:24:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=24570"},"modified":"2013-07-26T08:24:15","modified_gmt":"2013-07-26T15:24:15","slug":"nau-ranks-among-top-institutions-for-minority-students-earning-degrees-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/nau-ranks-among-top-institutions-for-minority-students-earning-degrees-3\/","title":{"rendered":"NAU ranks among top institutions for minority students earning degrees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/diverseeducation.com\/top100\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-24572\" alt=\"diverseissues\" src=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/diverseissues1.gif\" width=\"450\" height=\"371\" \/><\/a>Northern Arizona University ranks among the best in the nation for conferring the highest number of bachelor\u2019s degrees to minorities, particularly among Latino and Native American students, according to two newly released reports that track minority education trends.<\/p>\n<p>In an <a href=\"http:\/\/diverseeducation.com\/top100\/BachelorsDegreeProducers2013.php\">annual report<\/a> produced by\u00a0<em>Diverse Issues in Higher Education,<\/em> NAU ranks eighth in the nation for awarding bachelor\u2019s degrees to Native Americans in all disciplines, and 50th\u00a0in the nation for graduating Latino students in all undergraduate disciplines. NAU ranks 87th\u00a0for total minority graduates in all disciplines.<\/p>\n<p>The magazine\u2019s rankings are based on an analysis of U.S. Department of Education data for the 2011-12 academic school year.<\/p>\n<p>The report also gives NAU 17 top-10 rankings in specific disciplines for minority bachelor\u2019s degree production\u201415 of which fall under graduating Native American students.<\/p>\n<p>Using the same data but a different methodology, <i>Hispanic Outlook<\/i> <i>in Higher Education<\/i> magazine released its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hispanicoutlook.com\/download\/top100.pdf\">Top 100 Colleges for Latinos<\/a>, which ranks NAU 62nd in the nation for conferring bachelor\u2019s degrees to Latinos, and 58th for the most full-time undergraduate and graduate Latino students.
