The School Psychology programs in Northern Arizona University\u2019s Department of Educational Psychology have received full approval from the National Association of School Psychologists.<\/p>\n
The department, which is home to a master\u2019s and Ph.D. programs in school psychology, earned approval without any provisions through 2011. \u201cI commend you and your colleagues for developing a high-quality program commensurate with national standards,\u201d said Patti L. Harrison, chair of the NASP Program approval board in her letter to the college.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe full certification of NAU’s school psychology programs is a tribute to the hard work of dedicated faculty members,\u201d said Ramona Mellott, department chair.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are pleased with this recognition of high-quality programs that have sought to serve students throughout the state,\u201d said Dan Kain, dean of the College of Education. \u201cWe seek to develop educational leaders who create tomorrow’s opportunities, and this recognition from the National Association of School Psychologists confirms the effectiveness of these efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kain congratulated Mellott and professor Mary McLellan, who coordinated the approval self-studies. \u201cIt is certainly a fine mark for NAU to achieve this accreditation without any provisions,\u201d he said. \u201cI want to express my thanks to Ramona and Mary for all they did to make this happen. It is also recognition of the good work of the faculty in that area.\u201d<\/p>\n
