It is based on the past four years\u2019 performance, and rates have been shown to predict later graduation success.<\/p>\n<p>Teams must meet a minimum multiyear APR score of 900 out of 1,000 points possible\u2014or a 930 average over the most recent two years\u2014or risk losing scholarships and face other sanctions over time, including bans on postseason play.<\/p>\n<p>All 15 of NAU\u2019s sponsored sports are exceeding NCAA academic standards for the fourth straight year, and the department\u2019s overall APR of 977 is 28 points higher than in last year\u2019s report.<\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s tennis team received an <a href=\"http:\/\/fs.ncaa.org\/Docs\/newmedia\/public\/rates\/index4.html\">APR Public Recognition Award<\/a> for earning a perfect single-year APR each of the past four years. The award is given each year to Division 1 athletic programs whose Academic Progress Rate is among the top 10 percent of schools nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe continued improvement of our Academic Performance Rate demonstrates the commitment NAU student-athletes have made to achieve success in the classroom,\u201d said <strong>Lisa Campos<\/strong>, vice president for Intercollegiate Athletics. \u201cFurthermore, our continued academic success reflects the hard work by the student-athletes, coaches and support staff to uphold the academic standards set by President <b>John Haeger<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Twelve NAU squads carry multiyear totals above 960, with seven teams accomplishing perfect single-year scores: Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s Tennis; Women\u2019s Swimming and Diving; Women\u2019s Golf; Men\u2019s Cross Country; Men\u2019s Indoor Track; and Women\u2019s Volleyball.<\/p>\n<p>View the complete <a href=\"http:\/\/web1.ncaa.org\/app_data\/apr2012\/501_2012_apr.pdf\">Academic Progress Report<\/a> for Northern Arizona University.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/athletics-program-exceeding-ncaa-academic-standards\/\">Northern Arizona University student-athletes have again shown they measure up academically, according to an NCAA Academic Progress Report released this week.
