{"id":2222,"date":"2012-04-03T11:19:43","date_gmt":"2012-04-03T18:19:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www2.nau.edu\/news-p\/wordpress\/?p=2222"},"modified":"2012-11-01T14:50:55","modified_gmt":"2012-11-01T21:50:55","slug":"conference-welcomes-state-and-national-teachers-of-the-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/conference-welcomes-state-and-national-teachers-of-the-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Conference welcomes state and national teachers of the year"},"content":{"rendered":"<table width=\"10%\" border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"5\" cellpadding=\"5\" align=\"right\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/33958828?badge=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"400\" height=\"220\"><\/iframe><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Northern Arizona University\u2019s College of Education is celebrating the 11th year of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/coe.nau.edu\/trit_conf\/index.php\">There\u2019s a Reason I\u2019m a Teacher Conference<\/a>\u00a0with hundreds of teachers and students from across Arizona arriving in Flagstaff this week to hear renowned speakers and share best practices.<\/p>\n<p>The all-day conference will be held Thursday, April 5, in Ashurst Auditorium and will include sessions on rural education, utilizing technology in the classroom and motivating students.<\/p>\n<p>Among the featured speakers will be\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ccsso.org\/ntoy\/national_teachers\/teacher_detail.html?id=24\">Michelle Shearer<\/a>, a chemistry teacher at Urbana High School in Maryland who selected as the 2011 National Teacher of the Year,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.azedfoundation.org\/teacher-of-the-year.php\">Kristie Martorelli<\/a>, a reading interventionist at Thompson Ranch Elementary School in El Mirage selected as the 2012 Arizona Teacher of the Year, and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.azruralschools.org\/index.cfm?pID=469\">Shaun Martin<\/a>, a physical education teacher and cross country team coach at Chinle High School selected as the 2011 Rural Teacher of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>Organizers are asking individuals to bring a new or gently used children\u2019s book to donate.
