On a daily basis teachers must meet the demands of teaching, research and reaching out into the community,&#8221; Haeger said. &#8220;This event is where we can recognize the exceptional faculty members of this university.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The President&#8217;s Awards went to recipients who have made exemplary contributions to the NAU mission in at least three categories: creativity in teaching, creative use of technology, advising, assessment, recruitment\/retention, collaborative research, diversity and service.<\/p>\n<p>Haeger presented President&#8217;s Awards to\u00a0<strong>Charles Connell<\/strong>, professor and associate chair for the history department;<strong>\u00a0Laura Taylor<\/strong>, an academic professional for Cline Library;\u00a0<strong>Brant Short<\/strong>, a professor and director of the master&#8217;s of arts in applied communication; and\u00a0<strong>Deborah McCormick<\/strong>, an assistant clinical professor and coordinator of three distance learning programs in the health sciences department.<\/p>\n<p>For a complete list of awards,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www4.nau.edu\/insidenau\/bumps\/2006\/4_12_06\/awards2.htm\">click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/exceptional-teachers-rewarded\/\">The accomplishments and contributions from faculty and academic professionals were recognized and awarded during the Faculty\/Academic Professional Awards ceremony in Ashurst Auditorium April 10.
