{"id":19801,"date":"2010-04-22T14:53:45","date_gmt":"2010-04-22T21:53:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=19801"},"modified":"2013-06-25T15:14:23","modified_gmt":"2013-06-25T22:14:23","slug":"nau-earns-place-among-princeton-reviews-green-colleges-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/nau-earns-place-among-princeton-reviews-green-colleges-2\/","title":{"rendered":"NAU earns place among Princeton Review\u2019s \u2018green\u2019 colleges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Northern Arizona University has been listed in the\u00a0<em>Princeton Review\u2019s Guide to 286 Green Colleges<\/em>\u00a0for demonstrating \u201can exemplary commitment to sustainability.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The guide was released Tuesday in celebration of today\u2019s 40th anniversary of Earth Day.<\/p>\n<p>The Princeton Review cited the university\u2019s three LEED-certified buildings in 2009\u2014since then it has added a fourth\u2014calling NAU a \u201cgreen building superstar.\u201d It also repeated the\u00a0<em>Chronicle of Higher Education\u2019s<\/em>\u00a0naming of the Applied Research and Development building as the \u201cgreenest building in higher education.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The publication also cited the university\u2019s numerous initiatives to create a carbon-neutral campus by 2020.<\/p>\n<p>To produce this guide Princeton Review partnered with the\u00a0<a title=\"United States Green Building Council\" href=\"http:\/\/usgbc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">United States Green Building Council<\/a>, a national nonprofit organization that promotes sustainability in the design and construction of buildings.
