{"id":19748,"date":"2010-05-06T12:04:39","date_gmt":"2010-05-06T19:04:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=19748"},"modified":"2015-06-25T09:45:22","modified_gmt":"2015-06-25T16:45:22","slug":"interim-dean-of-the-college-of-education-selected","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/interim-dean-of-the-college-of-education-selected\/","title":{"rendered":"Interim dean of the College of Education selected"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Gypsy Denzine<\/strong>, associate dean of the College of Education since 2002, has been appointed interim dean effective July 1.<\/p>\n<p>Denzine will replace Dan Kain when he assumes his new role as\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/new-vice-provosts-to-begin-july-1\/#.VYwwIRNVhHw\">vice provost<\/a>\u00a0for Academic Personnel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am very optimistic about the upcoming year and I look forward to working as interim dean with the faculty and staff members in the College of Education,\u201d Denzine said.<\/p>\n<p>Denzine received the President\u2019s Award for Faculty in 2009, recognizing her involvement in strategic planning and program development.\u00a0 In March, Denzine\u2019s proposal for the Faculty Reporting project, submitted in partnership with several faculty and staff members, was selected for support through NAU President John Haeger\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www4.nau.edu\/insidenau\/bumps\/2010\/3_11_10\/innovation.htm\">Innovation Fund<\/a>. The Faculty Reporting project will create a paperless system for faculty vitae, accomplishments, grant activity and workload reporting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDr. Denzine is an experienced and innovative leader in teacher preparation, student affairs and college administration,\u201d said\u00a0<strong>Liz Grobsmith<\/strong>, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs. \u201cHer experience with educational policy issues in the state will position the college well for addressing the challenges of K-12 education as well as responding to the economic issues facing the state.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/interim-dean-of-the-college-of-education-selected\/\">Gypsy Denzine, associate dean of the College of Education since 2002, has been appointed interim dean effective July 1.
