Northern Arizona University\u2019s Horizons Concert Series will present a chamber music theater performance based on the lives of renowned Latin American women.<\/p>\n
Tres Vidas<\/em>\u00a0presents musical numbers and dramatic monologues to capture the spirit of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, Argentinean poet Alfonsina Storni and Salvadoran peasant-activist Rufina Amaya.<\/p>\n The event begins at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 12, in Ardrey Memorial Auditorium. Tickets are free for students with an NAU ID, $5 for children 17 and younger, $12.50 for seniors, NAU faculty and staff, and $17.50 for community members. Call 928-523-5661 for tickets.<\/p>\n Featured actress Roseanne Almanzar will perform along with the Core Ensemble, consisting of Wendy Law, cello, Hugh Hinton, piano, and Michael Parola, percussion.<\/p>\n Tres Vidas<\/em>\u00a0presents dramatic situations such as Kahlo\u2019s stormy and passionate relationship with painter Diego Rivera, Amaya\u2019s astounding singular survival of the massacre at El Mozote and Storni\u2019s lifelong challenges as Argentina\u2019s first great feminist poet.<\/p>\n From a script written by Chilean poet\/writer Marjorie Agos\u00edn,\u00a0Tres Vidas<\/em>\u00a0offers powerful portrayals of each woman and includes traditional Mexican folk songs as well as Argentinean popular and tango songs made famous by Mercedes Sosa and Carlos Gardel. Additional music by Astor Piazzolla, Orlando Garcia, Pablo Ortiz, Alice Gomez, Carlos Sanchez-Gutierrez, Michael DeMurga and Osvaldo Golijov round out the musical score<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
