These interesting pairs of stars seem to be so close, the surfaces touch. Yet the two stars remain at different temperatures. It is not at all known how they can do this, or even if the effect is real. Spectral line profiles should answer the question.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Senior political science major\u00a0<strong>Nicola Walters<\/strong>\u00a0and junior communications major\u00a0<strong>Zoey DeWolf<\/strong>\u00a0share the distinction of being the highest ranked female debate team in the country. They are currently ranked 15th in the nation and\u00a0have received a first-round bid to the National Parliamentary Tournament of Excellence, a tournament where only the best teams in the country are invited to compete. Walters also is one of eight people who have been nominated to represent the United States against the Irish National Debate Team.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bruce M. Sullivan<\/strong>, professor of Religious Studies, has had an article accepted for publication in Oxford University&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Journal of Hindu Studies<\/em>. The article, titled \u201cKerala\u2019s Mahabharata on Stage: Texts and Performative Practices in Kutiyattam Drama,\u201d describes a tradition of sacred theater still performed in India and the ancient Sanskrit texts on which it is based.\u00a0Ethnographic research was supported by the Fulbright Association.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Kay Pitt<\/strong>, a senior lecturer for The W.A. Franke College of Business, was among seven women nominated for the Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce&#8217;s 21st annual Athena Award. The award honors women who are active in community service and have substantially mentored women.
