{"id":18541,"date":"2010-01-27T13:40:38","date_gmt":"2010-01-27T20:40:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=18541"},"modified":"2015-08-17T14:57:00","modified_gmt":"2015-08-17T21:57:00","slug":"gold-axe-applications-due-march-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/gold-axe-applications-due-march-10\/","title":{"rendered":"Gold Axe applications due March 10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Office of Student Life is asking faculty and staff mentors to encourage outstanding graduating seniors to apply for the Gold Axe Award by 5 p.m. March 10.<\/p>\n<p>The Gold Axe Award is presented each semester to seniors who have made outstanding contributions to the university in academic performance, service and extracurricular activities.<\/p>\n<p>Applications can be downloaded from the Student Life\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/home.nau.edu\/studentlife\/awards.asp\">web site<\/a>, and can be submitted in one of three ways:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>By mail to NAU Office of Student Life, Box 6015, Flagstaff, AZ 86011<\/li>\n<li>In person at the Office of Student Life, University Union room 105<\/li>\n<li>As an e-mail attachment to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:Rick.Brandel@nau.edu\">Rick.Brandel@nau.edu<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students selected to receive the Gold Axe Award will be honored at a reception April 20, along with the NAU faculty or staff member they name as having the most significant impact on them during their undergraduate career.<\/p>\n<p>The tradition of the Gold Axe Award dates back to 1933, a year after the student body adopted an axe as the symbol for Lumberjack athletics.
