Enrollment in Northern Arizona University’s 2009 Winter Session reached a new milestone, breaking the 1,000 mark and increasing by 11.4 percent over last year.<\/p>\n
Continuing its upward trend for the eighth consecutive year, Winter Session enrollment increased from 911 in 2008 to 1,015 in 2009.<\/p>\n
Overall enrollment has more than doubled since the program kicked off with 461 students in 2002. The number of courses offered during Winter Session also has doubled since 2002, from 38 to 74 in 2009.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur goal is to provide students with different learning options,\u201d said\u00a0Fred Hurst<\/strong>, vice president for Extended Campuses. \u201cWinter term offers students an opportunity to complete required courses and speeds their time to graduation.\u00a0We\u2019re pleased that the student response has been positive and enrollment continues to grow both on the Flagstaff campus and throughout the state.\u201d<\/p>\n Winter Session is the four-week period between the end of the fall term and the beginning of the spring term, during which time students can enroll in courses specifically chosen for the accelerated format.<\/p>\n Of the 74 courses offered this winter, 70 were online and four were in-person courses offered in Flagstaff and Mesa.<\/p>\n View\u00a0enrollment highlights<\/a>\u00a0for Winter 2009.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
