NAU alumnus\u00a0<strong>Chris Engbretson<\/strong>\u00a0will play the piano version of the opera, wh ich was originally composed for accompaniment by a chamber orchestra.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Rape of Lucretia<\/em>\u00a0takes place in ancient Rome during wartime. Among the generals\u2019 wives, only Lucretia has been faithful to her husband. The Etruscan prince Tarquinius is attracted to Lucretia, visits her while her husband is absent and rapes her. Traumatized by the event Lucretia commits suicide.<\/p>\n<p>Schellen has double-cast the roles.<\/p>\n<p>He will direct NAU students\u00a0<strong>Maria Lopez<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Rachael Hirsch<\/strong>\u00a0as Lucretia,\u00a0<strong>Roland Mills<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Ben Perkins\u00a0<\/strong>as the male chorus,\u00a0<strong>Amy Warters<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Staci Dickens<\/strong>\u00a0as female chorus,\u00a0<strong>Quentin Lee<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Jared Levin<\/strong>\u00a0as Collatinus and\u00a0<strong>David Bracamonte<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Toby Kidd\u00a0<\/strong>as Tarquinius. The roles of Lucia and Bianca, two servants of Lucretia, are performed by\u00a0<strong>Erin Entringer<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Casey Kraft<\/strong>\u00a0as Lucia and\u00a0<strong>Kia Crotinger<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Michelle Trinidad<\/strong>\u00a0as Bianca.<\/p>\n<p>The opera will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31 and at 2 p.m. Nov. 1. There will be a lecture in Ashurst Auditorium 45 minutes before each performance.\u00a0Tickets are $10 for faculty and students, $13.50 for seniors and $15 for adults.
