The funds will help certify four additional teachers to teach advanced placement courses. Its goal is to more than double the number of sophomores next year who are able to enroll in AP classes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Two students in NAU\u2019s Honors Program had their artwork selected for publication in\u00a0<em>Scribendi<\/em>, an annual literary and art publication of the Western Regional Honors Council:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Thomas O\u2019Gara<\/strong>, psychology and French major, had two acrylics on canvas featured: \u201cWashed Away\u201d and \u201cLes Muses.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\n<figure id=\"attachment_15859\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-15859\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-15859\" alt=\"Elnagar's &quot;Kiwi Sunrise&quot;\" src=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/KiwiSunrise-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-15859\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Elnagar&#8217;s &#8220;Kiwi Sunrise&#8221;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Hesham Elnagar<\/strong>, music major and recent graduate, had his digital photo featured: &#8220;Kiwi Sunrise,\u201d a sunrise in Napier, New Zealand.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Produced by Honors students at the University of New Mexico,\u00a0<em>Scribendi<\/em>\u00a0publishes creative works by undergraduate honors students. This year,\u00a0<em>Scribendi\u00a0<\/em>received 350 total submissions from 134 students at 32 universities or colleges.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kimberly Melhus<\/strong>, assistant professor in the School of Communication, and\u00a0<strong>Jason Mitchell<\/strong>, lecturer in the School of Communication, presented their peer-reviewed paper &#8220;The Importance of Cross-Discipline in an Undergraduate Graphic Design Curriculum&#8221; at the National University and College Designers Association Design Education Summit in Alabama last week.
