{"id":15407,"date":"2009-05-13T11:24:12","date_gmt":"2009-05-13T18:24:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=15407"},"modified":"2015-08-17T14:51:46","modified_gmt":"2015-08-17T21:51:46","slug":"hispanic-outlook-rankings-show-improvement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/hispanic-outlook-rankings-show-improvement\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Hispanic Outlook\u2019 rankings show improvement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Northern Arizona University inched up slightly in the annual rankings of the nation\u2019s top institutions for Latinos, according to\u00a0<em>Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education<\/em>\u00a0magazine.<\/p>\n<p>In its May 4, 2009, edition,<em>\u00a0Hispanic Outlook<\/em>\u00a0ranks NAU 14th in the nation for graduating Latinos with master&#8217;s degrees\u2014up five places\u2014and 63rd for undergraduates, a slight improvement from last year\u2019s 65th spot.<\/p>\n<p>For granting doctoral degrees to Latinos, NAU ranks 70th in the nation, a decrease from last year.<\/p>\n<p>The magazine further analyzes degrees awarded to Latinos by academic programs, and for the fourth year in a row, NAU ranks ninth in the nation for bachelor&#8217;s degrees in education.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We strive for all students to feel a connection to Northern Arizona University,&#8221; said\u00a0<strong>David Camacho<\/strong>, associate vice president for Diversity and Equity. \u201cThe\u00a0<em>Hispanic Outlook<\/em>\u00a0rankings demonstrate that our institution provides the right environment for academic success.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The rankings were derived from data gathered from the U.S. Department of Education\u2019s Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System program.
