{"id":15244,"date":"2009-05-13T12:27:36","date_gmt":"2009-05-13T19:27:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=15244"},"modified":"2015-08-17T14:51:45","modified_gmt":"2015-08-17T21:51:45","slug":"youth-camps-promise-learning-and-fun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/youth-camps-promise-learning-and-fun\/","title":{"rendered":"Youth camps promise learning and fun"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A number of NAU-sponsored youth camps are being offered to help keep school-age kids physically and mentally active throughout the summer:<\/p>\n<table width=\"49%\" border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"3\" cellpadding=\"3\" align=\"right\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"2008SFA_GroupPhoto\" src=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/2008SFA_GroupPhoto-300x180.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nCampers at an NAU forest academy<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.for.nau.edu\/CentennialForest\/content\/view\/571\/802\/\" target=\"_blank\">Forest Academies<\/a><br \/>\nThe NAU Centennial Forest offers a variety of environmental education programs that connect kids to the forest with fun, hands-on activities designed to build critical thinking skills.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www4.nau.edu\/finearts\/musiccamp\/index.asp\">NAU Junior and Senior Summer Music Camps<\/a><br \/>\nMusically inclined junior high and high school students can enjoy working hard with instructors from all over the country who are chosen for their enthusiasm for working with young musicians.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/home.nau.edu\/recreation\/syp\/ce.asp\">Mountain Jacks Kids Camp<\/a><br \/>\nChildren ages 3-11 can enjoy morning activities of sports and field games, arts and crafts, and experiential education sessions.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/home.nau.edu\/recreation\/syp\/ddc.asp\">Dolphin Day Camp<\/a><br \/>\nChildren in kindergarten through sixth grade get active in this afternoon camp with daily swimming, arts and crafts, field games, water safety education and weekly field trips.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/home.nau.edu\/recreation\/syp\/ll.asp\">Louie&#8217;s Leaders<\/a><br \/>\nYoung adults ages 12-15 can learn valuable life skills based on the Character Counts leadership model. Activities include volunteer projects, American Red Cross certification, developing the camp newsletter and more. Half-day and full-day camps are available.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/nau.newtier.com\/index.php?module=subjects&amp;func=viewpage&amp;pageid=31\">NAU Athletics Camps<\/a><br \/>\nFor young athletes looking to elevate their game in a variety of sports, including basketball, soccer, track and field, football and volleyball.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NAU Language and Literacy Camp<\/strong><br \/>\nFor children ages 4-8 looking for a boost in language and literacy skills.
