Makagon is an associate professor of communication at DePaul University. The award was presented Nov. 13 at the association\u2019s annual meeting in Chicago.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>David Schlosberg,\u00a0<\/strong>professor of politics and international affairs,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>was a guest speaker during the &#8220;Climate Change in the Courts: Emerging Patterns&#8221; workshop last week at the University of Edinburgh School of Law in Scotland. Schlosberg\u2019s talk, &#8220;Climate Justice, the Capabilities Approach, and Policy Implications,&#8221; was presented during a session on environmental justice and policies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Natalie Cawood<\/strong>, a lecturer, and\u00a0<strong>Rebecca Garrison<\/strong>, an associate professor, both from the department of Sociology and Social Work, presented a paper, \u201cInitiating Infused Gerontological Competencies: Lessons from BSW Students Following Elder Service-Learning Experience,\u201d at the recent 55th annual meeting for the Council on Social Work Education in San Antonio, Texas.<br \/>\n<table width=\"141\" border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"3\" cellpadding=\"0\" align=\"right\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"135\"><a href=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/asian.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15170\" alt=\"asian\" src=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/asian.jpg\" width=\"173\" height=\"215\" \/><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sherri McCarthy<\/strong>, professor of Education Psychology at NAU-Yuma, authored the book,\u00a0<em>Building Asian Families and Communities in the 21st Century<\/em>, during her time teaching as a visiting professor at the University of Malaysia.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jon Reyhner<\/strong>, professor in the College of Education, wrote the article, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/iise.pitt.edu\/publications\/ncontents\/v10\/n1\/ise200902.pdf\">Indigenous Education in Global Contexts<\/a>,&#8221; published in\u00a0<em>International Studies in Education\u00a0<\/em>journal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/in-the-spotlight-nov-18-2009\/\">Kudos to these faculty, staff and students Do you have a spotlight item to share with the NAU community?
