It debuted at No. 1 on the\u00a0<em>New York Times<\/em>\u00a0Graphic Books Bestseller List in October. Gabaldon wrote the script for the book and graphic artist Huang Nguyen illustrated it.<\/p>\n<p>In 2007, NAU awarded Gabaldon with an honorary doctor of humane letters, the same year she also won a Quill Award in the Science Fiction\/Fantasy\/Horror category.She graduated from NAU in 1973 with bachelor&#8217;s degree in biology and in 1978 earned her NAU doctorate in zoology. Gabaldon spent a dozen years as a university professor with an expertise in scientific computation before beginning to write fiction. She has since published more than 15 novels and novellas. Her father is former Arizona Sen. Tony Gabaldon, for whom Gabaldon Hall is named.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/gabaldonbookcover.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-14348 alignleft\" alt=\"&quot;The Exile&quot;\" src=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/gabaldonbookcover.jpg\" width=\"216\" height=\"309\" srcset=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2013\/03\/gabaldonbookcover.jpg 216w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2013\/03\/gabaldonbookcover-209x300.jpg 209w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 216px) 100vw, 216px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nGabaldon also is an adviser to the English Department\u2019s\u00a0<em>Thin Air<\/em>\u00a0magazine, a student-produced literary arts magazine.
